Saving photos from a post
Facebook has no save button on photos, and a right-click on a computer often gives you a small preview rather than the real picture. Paste the post link here instead and you get the full-size ones.
Posts with several pictures are handled in one go: they're all listed together and you save the ones you want.
How to do it
- Open the photo post on Facebook and copy its link with the share button.
- Paste the link into the box at the top of this page.
- Each picture appears with its size — tap the ones you want.
A note on other people's photos
Saving a picture for your own reference is normal. Putting someone else's photo up as your own, or using it to sell something, is not, and no tool can hand you that right. Photos of people also carry the ordinary courtesy of asking first.
Frequently asked questions
Can I save all the photos in one post?
Yes. Paste the post link and every picture in it is listed, each with its own save button, so you can take one or work through the lot.
What size are the photos?
The largest version Facebook serves for that post, which is far bigger than the thumbnail you see while scrolling.
Can I save someone's profile picture?
If the profile picture is public and you have the link to it as a post, yes. If the account is private, no.
Why is one of my photos missing?
Pictures added later in the comments aren't part of the post itself, so they aren't picked up. Only the photos in the post are listed.
Are the photos changed in any way?
No. You get Facebook's file as it is, with nothing added on top.
Does this work with private posts?
No, only public ones — the same as with videos.
Where do the photos save to?
Your normal downloads location. On iPhone that's the Files app, and you can move them into Photos from there.
Can I use the photos I download?
For yourself, yes. They still belong to whoever took them, so publishing them or using them for business needs that person's agreement.
